Lucy’s Scone Recipe

All our guests are welcomed with a Cornish cream tea and judging by the TripAdvisor reviews, they are gratefully received after a long journey. So if you are looking for a reliable scone recipe and some top tips to make sure they rise properly, I thought it would be a good idea for me to share my recipe.


Makes approx 8 scones
Can be easily multiplied

450g self-raising flour plus extra for flouring the surfaces
80g butter/margarine (or vegan margarine)
200ml milk (or oat milk for vegan version)
1 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp caster sugar
Pinch of salt


An oven 200c
Baking sheet with baking/greaseproof paper
Large mixing bowl
Palette Knife

Top Tips

Ensure your oven is preheated and hot
Make sure your self-raising flour is in date
Do not use too much
