Dogs Welcome at Trenant Park Cottages

There’s a particular moment that dog owners know well. The one where you open the car door, unclip the lead, and watch your dog disappear into a garden that’s actually, properly enclosed.

At Trenant Park, that moment happens a lot.

All five cottages have their own private enclosed gardens. Not shared. Not overlooked. Yours for the week , for morning coffee, evening quiet, and everything in between.

The Gardens , Honestly Described

We know “enclosed” means different things in different places. Here’s exactly what you’ll find at each cottage:

Lady Pamela’s — Wooden fencing approximately 1 metre high with a small gate. Peaceful and private, ideal for smaller dogs or settled dogs that don’t test boundaries. Sleeps 2.

Buller Cottage — The most secure garden on the site. A sheltered courtyard with 6ft fencing on one side and approximately 1 metre fencing with a front gate. Suits dogs of all sizes with confidence. Sleeps 4.

Peel Cottage — 6ft timber fencing on one boundary, 4ft on another, with low garden walls elsewhere. Open views across the parkland. Private and generous — best for dogs that are reliably settled within a boundary. Sleeps 4.

Offerd Cottage — 4ft fencing on one side, approximately 1 metre fence with front gate, and shrubbery with wire fencing on the outer boundary. Secure for most dogs. As always, owners know their dogs best. Sleeps 5.

Holm Oak Cottage — 4ft picket fencing with shrubbery and wire fencing on the boundaries. Secure for most dogs and particularly well suited to confident, settled companions. Sleeps 5.

The wider grounds are enclosed with a kissing gate and cattle grid so the whole site feels contained and unhurried. Do get in touch if you require any further info.

A Walk from the Door

You won’t need to drive to give your dog a proper outing.

From the cottage, a quiet path leads approximately 900 metres down through the grounds to the river. It takes its time. There’s a pond on the way, home to moorhens, egrets and, on quieter mornings, the resident kingfisher family. It’s the sort of walk that sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Kilminorth Woods and Trenant Woods are a short drive for longer explorations. The coast path is easily reached from Looe, less than two miles away.

Nearby Beaches and Pubs

Several dog-friendly beaches are within easy reach. Hannafore Beach in Looe is around 3 miles. Seaton Beach is a favourite, about 15 by car. Talland Bay and Whitsand Bay are both a short drive. Further walks here.

For full details on seasonal restrictions and what to expect at each, our Dog Friendly Beaches Near Looe guide covers everything.

When it comes to an evening out, two reliable dog-friendly pubs are close by. The Salutation Inn in Looe is around 2 miles a proper local in the heart of town. The Copley Arms at Hessenford is roughly 4 miles and well worth the drive on a quiet evening and has easy parking.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Dog treats are provided on arrival, and there’s a dog waste bin on site.

We ask that dogs are kept downstairs and out of the bedrooms. It helps us maintain the cottages to a consistently high standard for every guest who stays.

Please don’t leave dogs alone in the cottages. It’s not fair on them and a distressed dog can disturb others who’ve come here specifically for the quiet.

Dogs should be kept under control in the shared areas of the site, with consideration for other guests.

We welcome up to 2 dogs per cottage as standard. Up to 3 can be arranged just enquire prior to booking and we can advise the best cottage for you. A small additional charge applies per dog per stay, currently £30 per dog per week. Details are on each individual cottage page.

Why It Works So Well

It isn’t just the gardens or the beaches. It’s the whole environment.

No busy roads nearby. No noise drifting over from neighbours. Space to let your dog be a dog and space to let yourself slow down properly.

Guests come back to Trenant year after year. So do their dogs.
